Our 2026 Gift Guide: Sheepskin & Wool Gifts

A sheepskin bought this December will still be in the house in 2040. That is the whole argument for giving one. The fleece on a single long-wool skin is roughly 70mm deep, dense enough that it holds its shape under a chair leg, and it answers to a brush and an airing rather than a wash cycle.

We have shelved this year's gifting by price. Five collections, from a pair of cashmere bed socks to a beanbag built from eight full skins. Below, what sits in each, and who it tends to suit.

Wool is not a winter material here. It regulates moisture and temperature in both directions, which is why these pieces stay out through July. What changes in December is the house around them - more people in it, more hours spent on the floor, more reason to put something soft where someone will sit.

Gift Sets

Six sets, boxed, wrapped in tissue and tied, so the thing that arrives at your door is the thing you hand over. No second trip for paper.

The socks are cashmere certified to The Good Cashmere Standard. The hot water bottle sets pair a sheepskin cover with a pair - the cover is the part people keep for years, the bottle itself is replaceable.

Gifts Under £100

Twenty pieces, nothing above £95, and four things worth knowing about them.

A single sheepskin rug is £79. Each one a whole skin, so no two are the same size or the same shade. It goes over the back of a chair, along a bench, or on the floor beside a bed. This is the piece people come back and buy a second of.

Sheepskin hot water bottles are £69 and come two ways. The long-wool sheepskin has the deeper, looser fleece; the shearling is clipped short and dense, closer to a velvet nap. Shearling is in Espresso, Cream, Mist and White, so it is the easier one to match to a room you have not seen. The socks are cashmere certified to The Good Cashmere Standard. The hot water bottle sets pair a sheepskin cover with a pair — the cover is the part people keep for years, the bottle itself is replaceable.

Cashmere bed socks start at £55 in Grey Pearl, Soft Pink and Azure. The Holly colourway is £60 and limited to this season — the only genuinely red thing we make.

Cushions sit at £69 to £79. The Tibetan in Birch has the long, curled fleece; the Shearling in Moonlight is flat and architectural. Different rooms entirely.

Gifts Under £150

This is where the rare-breed skins start, and where the first piece of real furniture-scale wool appears.

The Fortrose Wool Throw, £135. Woven wool, large enough to cover a double bed or a two-seater, in Totem and three softer colourways — Rose, Periwinkle and Aqua. Totem is the graphic one; the other three read quieter from across a room.

Rarebreed Icelandic Sheepskin, £119. The longest fleece we stock, in Stone, White and Taupe. Icelandic sheep carry a dual coat, a long outer and a fine undercoat, which is why these skins fall in loose ropes rather than lying flat. Over an armchair, it is the most immediately striking thing in this guide.

Tibetan Sheepskin Rug, £119. Tight spiral curl, closer to astrakhan than fleece, in White, White & Brown and Charcoal. White & Black has sold out for the season.

The two hot water bottle and cashmere sock sets at £110 also sit in this tier, already boxed.

Gifts Under £200

The tier where a gift stops being an accessory and starts changing the room it lands in.

Double sheepskin rugs, £159. Two skins joined along the spine, roughly twice the footprint of a single, which is what you want at the end of a bed or in front of a hearth. Cream and Taupe in long wool; Fawn and Espresso in shearling, with Moonlight at £169.

The Kilbarn Lambswool Throw, £175. Heavier than the Fortrose and woven as a reversible, so Cappuccino gives you two faces for one throw. Coastal Check is the pattern; Butterscotch is the only warm tone in the throws.

The Cosy Corner Gift Sets, £195. Each including 1 single sheepskin rug, 1 sheepskin cushion and 1 sheepskin hot waterbottle. All conveniently packed and sent together for an instant cosy corner look. (not gift packaged). Long Sheepskin in Cream or Taupe, Shearling in Moonlight.

The four-pair cashmere sock set at £185 is the largest boxed gift below £200.

Gifts Over £200

Furniture, and the rugs large enough to behave like it. This is the joint-gift tier — the one several people club together for.

Beanbags, £575 to £795. The Giant Sheepskin Beanbag is built in England from eight full skins and arrives filled, at £749 in Cream or Vole. The Shearling in Moonlight and the Cowhide are £795. If the room is smaller, the Large Sheepskin Beanbag is £575.

The rug ladder. Our rugs are priced by how many skins are joined, which makes the step up easy to judge.

A Single is one skin at £79. A Double is two, at £159. A Quatro is four, at £279, and a Sexto is six, at £395.

Quatro in Shearling Moonlight is £295; Sexto comes in Cream, Vole and Shearling Moonlight. A Sexto will cover the floor area in front of a three-seater.

Pouffes and stools, £325 to £595. Pouffes are £325, circular or square, in sheepskin and shearling. The Sheepskin Stool is £475 and the New Zealand Sheepskin Bedstool £595, back in stock after selling through earlier in the year.

Two rules of thumb. For anyone whose home you have not seen, choose Cream, Taupe or Moonlight - they sit against almost anything. And if you are choosing between two sizes, take the larger: across more than three thousand reviews, nobody has told us their sheepskin was too big.

Questions people ask before they buy

Does it arrive wrapped? Everything in Gift Sets comes boxed, tissued and ribboned, ready to hand over. Our Hot Water Bottles and Socks are beautifully wrapped, ready to gift. Other pieces arrive in our standard packaging.

How do you clean a sheepskin? Shake it out and brush it with a wire sheepskin brush to lift the fleece. Deal with spills immediately using a damp cloth and cool water. Air it rather than washing it; machine washing at temperature will shrink the hide beneath the wool.

What is the difference between long-wool sheepskin and shearling? Fleece length. Long-wool sheepskin is left at full length and falls in loose locks. Shearling is clipped short and even, giving a dense, flat surface closer to velvet. Shearling shows a room's lines; long wool softens them.

Can I send it straight to the recipient? Yes - add their address as the delivery address at checkout.

What is the last order date for Christmas? Cut-offs vary by destination and service. See Delivery for this year's dates.

Is wool only for winter? No. Wool regulates both moisture and temperature, which is why these pieces stay out year-round rather than being packed away in spring.
