Are Sheepskin Pram Liners Safe for Babies?

Yes. When used as designed (your baby on their back, the harness fastened and regular checks so they don't overheat), a natural sheepskin pram liner is safe from birth, and its natural breathability makes sheepskin ideal for pram liners.

Key facts

  • Wool can absorb up to 35% of its weight in moisture before it feels wet (Woolmark).
  • Babies who get too hot are at higher risk of SIDS, so breathability matters (The Lullaby Trust).
  • Little H&H's WoolFlo™ ventilation is independently tested by Intertek (ISO 9237, July 2026).

Why sheepskin is the best material for a pram liner

Nature's miracle fibre, sheepskin naturally regulates temperature. But most sheepskin pram liners have a solid backing, meaning the sheepskin can't breathe or thermoregulate properly in the way that it's able to. We've changed that.

Enter WoolFlo™: special perforations in our pram liner, allowing any heat build up to disperse.

We also use ultra-soft, cloud-like sheepskin - the same premium New Zealand sheepskin as Hyde & Hare's much-loved sheepskin rugs, which have received over 1000 five-star reviews for their unmatched softness and enduring quality.

How to use a sheepskin pram liner safely

  1. Fasten your pram's 3 or 5-point harness through the liner every time.
  2. Feel the back of your baby's neck or chest routinely. If it's clammy, remove a layer (The Lullaby Trust).
  3. Never cover the pram with a blanket; use a clip-on sunshade.

Quick answers

Can my baby nap on a sheepskin pram liner?
Yes, on their back, harnessed and in view. For long sleeps, move them to a firm, flat cot or Moses basket (NHS).

Will a sheepskin pram liner make my baby too hot in summer?
Sheepskin wicks moisture and is naturally breathable, keeping babies warm when it's cold, and cool when it's warm. And our WoolFlo™ technology lets air circulate where a solid backing would trap heat. But, as per official guidelines, you should still check your baby often on hot days.

Our WoolFlo™ ventilation system for our sheepskin pram liners is independently tested by Intertek.
